CPTU was a HUGE Success for a first-time Major Event in Tropical North Queensland. We know we can improve to make sure the Cairns Port Douglas Trail Ultra runs more smoothly in 2023.
Much of the feedback that we’ve had so far was that there needs to be more volunteers on the ground supporting the event. We will be shouting out pre-event to ensure we boost those numbers in 2023. If you are racing the CPTU40, or CPTU20 we will be offering great incentives to come to the finish line in Port Douglas and welcome in all the CPTU80 and CPTU120 Runners. If you are racing the CPTU20 or CPTU80 we’d also love to see you have at the start line too. Or why not ask your family member to assist us, we will be offering complimentary entries to those people to do help at our event.

The website will have a complete overhaul.
We are making some fundamental changes, like offering the option to start at 03:00 am to the +18 Hour CPTU120 Runners, plus strict cut-off times at CP2 Kamerunga and CP3 Kuranda to ensure everyone makes it through Kuranda before sunset.
We will strictly have presentations on a Sunday Morning, not after the event on Saturday, to allow for any lags in timing uploads especially for the CPTU80 with the staggered start and it also allows time for a protest post-event as we have some amazing prizes to give away.
We’ve also taken the time to update some runners’ timing who have taken an incorrect turn due to a wrong marker. We felt terrible and did what we could to make it up to them. One female I walked with up the mountain could not be identified in the photos, so please reach out to us!
It’s taken some time for us to write this email as I’ve personally had to take compassionate leave but I am back on track now, we thank you for your patience with us. We are manually uploading the ITRA and UTMB results, this takes time, but we hope this will be completed by the end of the week.
