CPTU - Thank You for your support

Dear All,

The CPTU team has been blown away by the support that we have been given for putting the community first and postponing the CPTU until 3rd and 4th of September 2022. We find ourselves in a very different situation even just 6 weeks ago.  When it comes to planning a sports event we must follow the Queensland Government Guidelines that are ever changing as we try to supress the Delta Train of Covid19. We are living in unprecedented times while working through a pandemic and I thank everyone for being thoughtful and considerate of our decision for postponing the CPTU until 2022. We know in 2022 the CPTU will be bigger and better, with hopefully 80% of Australia being fully vaccinated.  We're optimistic 2022 will be brighter and hopefully with more certainty. We can’t thank you enough for your support. During this pandemic, the sporting events industry during 2020 had a 90% reduction in revenue due to lockdowns and border restrictions. We were hoping for a big 2021 but like many other businesses throughout Australia, this late postponement is a massive blow to us.

We made the call early to postpone on Friday due to the continued uncertainty that we are still facing. Even though the South East Queensland lockdown has been lifted, we are still required to follow those Queensland Health Orders that relate to all residents living in those 11 Local Government Areas (LGA) in South East Queensland. Although we are upset, we are relieved we have made the right decision and allowed you all extra time to make alternative arrangements for the 21-22nd of August Weekend. Key stakeholders , FNQ Local Government, Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Services , Police and Queensland Ambulances have also supported supported our decision and the timing of making the decision which has also been a great comfort to our team.

There have been many asking questions regarding the refund policy for the CPTU and we would like to address this query together.  Our refund policy and event rules can be found on our website.   In brief, in the event of cancellation, event deferral to the next date is automatically arranged for all entrants.  Please note that our refund policy follows the guidelines following Australia Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) guideline to operating a business during a pandemic.

As we know that many of you would like to participate in an event on the 21st and 22nd of August, we have been working hard to develop some additional alternatives.  As we are so deep in the planning process, most of the funds have already been allocated to key items required to run a safe and fun event.  Event shirts, medals and headskinz have all arrived.  Therefore, we would like to give you the opportunity to earn these in a virtual manner.  More information on the virtual CPTU will follow.

If you wish to defer your ticket to 2022, you will not need to do anything, your entry will automatically be transferred to the CPTU22 event.  It is also at this time that when you have transferred your ticket, you will have the option to on-sell your ticket to other entrants if you are unable to make it.  The ticket prices will increase for 2022 so you may be at a little bit of an advantage here, remembering that transfers do incur an administration fee, we will waive the usual transfer fee to those effected by the CPTU21 postponement. For those who want to upgrade your entry for example from the 80 to the 120, you can do this automatically now on your own without our help, just login to your account and choose the change event option.

We understand many of you have purchased other shop items.  For those wishing for a refund rather than deferral, we will be able to offer partial refund for the CPTU21 event entry, a full refund event transfers to and from the event, and additional shop items you have purchased we will happily mail them out to you. The remainder will be allocated to you through a virtual event (where you will receive your medal, race shirt and headskinz) and partially credit the remainder.  The partial credit has been calculated from your event distance minus the following: 5% administrative cost, Onetime booking fee, Refund Protect fee.

We thank you all for your support and consideration through these tough times and hope these communications answer your questions.  We have a fair amount of planning work that we have had to do behind the scenes in the planning and now the postponement of the CPTU and we are currently experiencing delays due to the extra workload that the recent decision has created as we desperately contact all those involved in the planning off the CPTU21. We thank you all for respecting our decision, and understanding there may be some extended wait times in returning your emails as there have been many questions that we just cannot individually respond to.
